My Fellow Krao & Guests

We are happy to assemble here today in the great State of Florida to share their sunshine and enjoy their hospitality. We therefore wish to extend our gratitude and appreciation to Mr.& Mrs. Lawrence Sekajipo, Mr. Joe Yankoon and all who made our 18th Annual Convention a success.

Mr. Vice Chairman
Members of the Executive Council
Officials and members of our State Chapters
Visiting friends,

Distinguished Guests, Ladies and gentlemen:

I am happy to inform you that there is a light at the end of the Tunnel for the National Krao Association in the Americas Inc. We have come a long way but we still have more to go.
I am delighted to note that we have accomplished some of our promises made to you when you elected us in 2008 -- that is to be transparent and progressive.
We have set-up a three-man volunteer committee in Monrovia to work with us to manage, support, promote and implement our undertakings including our Scholarship programs.

We worked diligently to fulfill your mandate to establish a new scholarship program -- a scholarship program that caters to junior and high schools. Thanks to our Education Committee headed by Ms. Benedictia Satiah. We sent all guidelines and applications to Monrovia by Mr. Sekajipo, our Project Liberia Coordinator.

We are currently awaiting the applications from Liberia for review and selection of students to initiate the Program. At this point we will be awarding five (5) scholarships to students from public to private schools.

We are also considering extending this program to T.N.I.M.A. Nursing School and the University of Liberia teachers college program. With the commitment that these applicants have made, they will upon graduation serve in Krao townships or settlements.

Ladies and gentlemen:

We must encourage and help our children to compete in the 21st century. Therefore, I ask every one of us to give moral and financial support toward the scholarship program.

We have not forgotten our Redemption Hospital Program which has not received the attention it deserves, due to changes at the Hospital, its administrative staff and the difficulty in contacting a decision maker.

We have just received information about the hospital, its needs and the new administrative staff. Therefore, we will focus on the Hospital and its needs in the up coming year.

Another concern of this Organization is the L.E.C. Oil spill in New Kru Town. Because of the Oil health implications on our people, we have written to Liberia E.P.A., L.E.C. Management and the Monrovia City Corporation expressing our fears in an urgent and potent way about the possible health hazard. At present, we regret to inform you that we have not received any response from any of the agencies. We will continue to pursue this issue because the health of our people is crucial.

My fellow Krao:

As a nonprofit organization, we are charged with solving problems. The New Kru Town Corporation appealed to the National Krao Association for financial assistance to repair and install a new bathroom. We committed our organization and donated $1,200.00 (one thousand two hundred dollars). In kind, the Corporation reserved a room as our Office in the building. We intend to ask our scholarship recipients to volunteer their time working in that office.

My fellow Krao:

In our effort to reach out to our people through our sacrifices and our committee on the ground, we are proposing that our 21st Annual Convention be held in Monrovia, Liberia and that a clean-up campaign also be held and sponsored every six month there after. I hope we will collectively sacrifice our time, effort and resources in our campaign to mobilize our people by organizing a community action group in Monrovia.

Let us learn from Charles Dubois who said: “TO BE ABLE AT ANY TIME TO SACRIFICE WHAT WE ARE FOR WHAT WE COULD BE IS THE ESSENCE OF SACRIFICING".

I am appealing to you to join me and the National Krao Association in continuing to be an active, progressive and united organization.

Accordingly, my fellow Krao, let stay focused, and forge on to do the business of our people with dedication and commitment.

IN UNION STRONG SUCCESS IS THE ASSURANCE THAT WE CAN NOT FAIL!

May God lead, guide and bless the works of our hands and bless the National Krao Association, Liberia and the United States of America.

Thank you!
The people of NKAA are dedicated to making the lives of our people in Liberia safer and more efficient.
